High pressure roller crushers are mainly used in the secondary and tertiary crushing stages (re-crushing).
Comminution occurs by compressing the material by two rollers that rotate in opposite directions (clockwise and counterclockwise), forcing the material deposited on the feed hopper to pass between the opening between the rollers.

Among the main advantages of roller crushers are their low acquisition cost and the production of material with sizes close to the distance set between the rollers.

Roll crushers have a maximum theoretical reduction ratio of 4 to 1, ie if a 1 inch particle is fed into the crusher, a maximum reduction of up to 0.5 inches is expected. Roller crushers comminute material to a minimum size of 2 mm (10 mesh).
